This page explains how a feed mill or premix buyer should qualify feed-grade calcium lignosulfonate as a technological binder. It is not presented as a nutritional supplement, veterinary product or source of guaranteed dietary calcium.
Define the Intended Function
The normal technical objective is improved pellet formation, reduced fines and better handling. Establish measurable acceptance criteria for pellet durability, hardness, throughput, energy use, moisture and storage before selecting a dosage.
Recommended Mill Trial Range
The Green Agrochem GAC-CaLS-FB Feed Binder Grade TDS recommends 1-5% of the total feed blend as a starting range. This is not a universal inclusion rate. Optimize for species, formulation, fat and fiber level, die condition, conditioning temperature and destination requirements.
Required Technical Documents
- Feed Binder Grade TDS and agreed sales specification.
- Current SDS for handling and storage controls.
- Batch COA using agreed test methods.
- Statement of composition and available regulatory documentation.
- Packaging, shelf-life, traceability and change-control information.
Regulatory Review
The buyer must confirm that the exact grade, manufacturing site, intended function, species and inclusion level comply with the destination market. An industrial-grade TDS or a generic CAS number is not sufficient evidence of feed authorization.
Qualification Trial
- Run a control formulation and at least two binder dosages.
- Keep conditioning, steam, die and throughput settings controlled.
- Measure fines, pellet durability, hardness, energy and production rate.
- Evaluate storage stability and animal-feed quality requirements.
- Approve the commercial specification only after satisfactory repeat trials.
