Calcium Lignosulfonate Feed Grade (GAC-CaLS-Feed) is a water-soluble lignosulfonate powder offered for evaluation as a pellet binder, kibble binder and feed-processing aid. Commercial use depends on the supplied grade, destination-market requirements and validation in the customer’s formula and production line.
Intended processing functions
- Supports cohesion of fine ingredients during conditioning and pelleting.
- May improve pellet or kibble handling durability and reduce fines when process conditions are suitable.
- Can be evaluated as a carrier or binder in selected premix and functional powder systems.
- May be trialed in livestock, poultry, aquafeed or pet-food production only where the offered grade and local rules permit the intended use.
No fixed performance improvement is guaranteed. This page does not claim therapeutic, digestive, toxin-binding, preservative or nutritional effects. Any such positioning requires grade-specific evidence and regulatory review.
Grade identity and TDS reference data
The property data below refer to Calcium Lignosulfonate — Feed Grade, GAC-CaLS-Feed, TDS Rev. 2.0. The document describes typical production results for reference, not a binding shipment specification. Its revision date and test methods are not stated. Agree acceptance criteria and obtain the shipment COA before purchase.
Feed Binder Grade is a separate grade: GAC-CaLS-FB has its own TDS Rev. 2.0. Similar listed properties do not establish interchangeability. Specify the required product code, intended technological function, species and destination market when requesting a sample.
| Parameter | Reference value |
|---|---|
| Product code | GAC-CaLS-Feed |
| CAS No. | 8061-52-7 |
| HS Code | 38040000; confirm with destination customs |
| Appearance | Yellow-brown, water-soluble powder |
| Dry matter | 95% min |
| Applied water solubility (TDS terminology) | 100% |
| Lignosulfonate content | 55% min |
| Sulphate content | 2% min |
| Sugar | 15% (TDS reference value) |
| Moisture | 7.0% max |
| Lead (Pb) | 0.5 mg/kg max |
| Cadmium (Cd) | 0.1 mg/kg max |
| Methyl mercury (Hg) | 0.3 mg/kg max |
| Inorganic arsenic (As) | 0.1 mg/kg max |
The min/max wording above is reproduced from the TDS reference table; it is not a statement of statutory feed limits. The document does not define the percentage bases or analytical methods. Confirm the dry-matter and moisture methods and acceptance criteria together; do not treat these independently listed values as a mass balance. Applied water solubility requires an agreed test procedure. The current approved TDS, contract specification and shipment COA prevail.
Recommended application validation
There is no universal dosage for every feed formula or mill. Begin with a supplier-recommended trial range for the approved grade, maintain a control, and optimize according to species, formula, moisture, conditioning, die geometry, throughput and target pellet quality.
| Application | Trial focus |
|---|---|
| Livestock or poultry pellets | PDI, fines, moisture, throughput, energy, hardness and animal acceptance. |
| Aquafeed | Pellet integrity, water stability, fines, density and feeding behavior. |
| Pet-food kibble | Extrusion or pelleting response, breakage, bulk density, palatability and storage stability. |
| Premix or functional blend | Flowability, homogeneity, compatibility, dust and handling behavior. |
Packaging, storage and documentation
GAC-CaLS-Feed TDS Rev. 2.0 lists 20 kg or 25 kg woven bags with polyethylene liners, and 500 kg or 600 kg FIBCs; confirm availability in the quotation. The stated shelf life is 24 months from production in original unopened packaging. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, avoid prolonged moisture exposure and reseal opened bags. Confirm remaining shelf life for the supplied lot and follow its current SDS.
